ICT Procurement StrategyFrom a baseline of operational and business needs we can consider the best strategy for supporting those needs through the appropriate use of systems technology.
Airport ICT is a complex topic, however, just as important as the systems themselves is the way that the project might procure them. The McCor approach is to define the high-level architecture and requirements so that, as a Project and an airport, the procurement strategy can be considered taking all factors into consideration. Introducing new systems and technology can be expensive. We must decide on the approach to be adopted for procuring these systems. Each option has its advantages and disadvantages and these will be different for every airport project. We must consider both the project level procurement and the longer-term airport operational costs and potential revenue for the airport. |
Different groups of solutions can have different finance options. We can apply innovation in procurement just as we can apply innovation to the systems themselves. While traditional options include project CAPEX and the use of third-party finance, other more novel options that we have used include long term commercial models in which income revenue is shared between the airport and the vendor.
